Why Red Hair Color Fades Fast

Why does Red hair color fade very fast?
This is a question I am asked frequently.
I have compared twelve bands of hair color and they all fade so much faster than other colors.  Some  red brands last up to twice as long as other brands of red color, but they only last 25% as long as other colors in the same brand.
This is a big problem now because red is such a popular color. While it was just a trend, most thought it would not last.  Now it is so fashionable, I believe it is a classic.
That is why the question is asked more now than ever.

Reasons red color fades faster:
  • Red hair color molecule is larger and heavier than any other hair color molecule.
  • Red hair color molecule is too large to penetrate the hair shaft so it adheres to the surface.  If the hair is pre bleached, the cuticle is open so wide that the color will penetrate this hair shaft.
  • The Red molecule will shampoo off the hair in a matter of about two weeks compared to other colors that will not shampoo off the hair.

There are some steps I have taken that help the red last four times longer.
Tomorrow, I am planning to do a scientific controlled experiment to discover how much longer the red color will last when these steps are followed.
  • I will color 3 swatches of hair on the same mannequin following the exact same procedure and using the exact same formula on each swatch of hair.
  • Swatch# 1 will be colored , processed and dried following manufacturer directions.  I will save this swatch and not shampoo any more to compare to the others after the experiment.
  • Swatch # 2 will be colored , processed and dried following manufacturer directions.
  • #3 swatch will be processed the same as #1 and I will use the steps that I found that will make it last longer.
  • Swatch #2  and #3 will  be shampooed and dried 30 times
  • Then I will compare the 3 swatches and calculate the amount of fade on each swatch.
I will document and repair the results in three days.

Ingredients of REZZ A RECT

                  REZZ A RECT

Rezz a Rect 4 oz             Rezz a rect 2 oz

The main active ingredient in REZZ A RECT is Aloe.
John has created a way to activate the Aloe with oxygen.

Ingredients
Aloe Vera
Glycereth 7
Vegetable Protein
Panthenol
Copolyol
Cetearyth20
Propolyparaben
Polyquaternium10
Methylparaben
Stryene/PVP
Copolymer

The Secret power to repair is not in the ingredients but it is in the new process John Antoniou, scientist and hairdresser, discovered that infuses the ingredients permanently into the hair.  Rezz a rect like permanent hair color becomes a permanent part of the hair. Of course you can bleach it out and remove it and that is how you can remove REZZ A RECT.

John Antoniou, the scientist, breaks the conditioning molecules into tiny ones with a very special, expensive, secret process that takes a long time. These protein molecules are so tiny and like the Laminins, the cell adhesion molecules, are in the family of proteins that are an integral part of tissue that hold cells together. Molecules so tiny can penetrate into the damaged hair and permanently adhere. The same ingredients may be in another conditioner but unless John's process is used which breaks the molecules down into their basic tiny structure, they remain too large to penetrate, become a part of the hair, repair split ends, and stop breakage. Other conditioners are shampooed off the hair like temporary hair color.

(Like permanent hair color verses temporary color. Permanent hair color molecules are small enough to go deep into shaft where the large molecules of shampoo do not go and remove.)

The negative charge of the damaged hair attracts the positive charge of REZZ A RECT and remains after shampoo. It restores the salt bond (ionic bonds) and the cystine bonds. In severely damaged hair the salt, cystine, and polypeptide bond/Protein chains have been broken. These bonds give hair toughness and strength. After these bonds are restored the hair is healthy again. At the present time we can find no other conditioner that has molecules small enough to repair like REZZ A RECT .

In certified classes (CEU's) Jeannie's Hair Company Instructors and Educators invite Cosmetologist to bring their favorite repair treatment.
The hairdressers take a damaged swatch and test repair treatments. They test on swatch that has been previously severely damaged by leaving the swatch in bleach with 40 vol developer for 12 hours. The swatch has 0% elasticity and 100% porosity (meaning it feels like gum when wet )  The Hair dressers do the test and compare REZZ to their previous favorite treatment to see the proof for themselves.

Humidity Creates Hair Problem

I had 2 new clients ask me today why their hair has been so hard to manage and unruly just lately.
It is because the climate here is so changeable.
Lately it has been very humid and hot.  The humidity causes
curly hair to frizz and causes straight hair to go limp and
loose its style.  It also can make the hair look oily by the end of the day.

A remedy and way to solve this problem  is to change the brand of styling product.

Select one that is humidity proof.
I will have The Hair Repair Team test the ones that claim to be humidity proof and rate them.  I will  upload the results to this blog if anyone else has this problem and asks.

I know what my #1 choice is now, but I need to compare some new ones to my favorite to discover if mine is still best or if maybe one of the new ones is a little better.
For the test we will use a human hair mannequin, apply different products to each section, and use exactly the same styling technique on each section.  We will place the mannequin outside in the humidity and leave for 24hours.  Then we will take photos and document the results.

This sounds like lots of fun and I already can't wait to see the results!!!
This will be great news for Cosmetologist who come to our Continuing Education Classes to earn CEU's for license renewal
